Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have lower back pain at my spine. Feels extremely tight. have twitching in muscles right next to the spine. Sensitive to touch where it hurts. Started this morning and has worsened all day as I stood for 12 hours. Any idea what this is and how to treat?
With such presentations in my clinic, I would first rule out serious conditions with MRI. Also for pain I would suggest: - a pain relieving anti inflammed medicine like Diclofenac potassium or Ketoprofen 1 capsule twice a day (if not allergic to) for 5 days; -Tolperizon(spasmolytic) 150 mg once in the morning; - Gabapentin-Day 1: 300 mg orally with the evening meal;then from Day 2: 600 mg orally with the evening meal till relief; - massage with Diclofenac gel; -physiotherapy; -stretching exercises.
If it is not relieved I would refer to an Orthopedic Surgeon for further management.
