Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain

i have been having lower back pain recently. I am a cross country athlete who trains 6 days a week and so minimal pain is expected. It advandced and it began shooting down one of my legs. When i went to the athletic trainer she said it was my ciactic nerve that was under stress because my muscles were too tight. It still hurts. Also i began having bright green poop and pooping 3 or more times around the time he backpain started. Are they related ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

I doubt they are related but your help is almost accurate as I too suspect this to be an issue related to your sciatic nerve. Rest, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. ibuprofen), compressive stockings and avoid strenuous exercise along with weight loss (only if you are overweight or obese) helps the symptoms to settle.

Best wishes.
