Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m 40 have had lower back pain for about a year. I thought it was from driving a lot. My cervix is bumpy and inflammed. I am having trouble getting in to see a physician. My last pap&pelvic was about 13 years ago. I m a smoker. I m so scared. Is there anything this could be besides cervical cancer?
Hello I have gone through your question and understand your concern. Low back pain along with cervical inflammation is suggestive of pelvic inflammatory disease usually caused be infection at or around the organs that lie in pelvic cavity. Get a few diagnostic test namely X-ray lumber vertebra, ultrasound abdomen and pelvis along with PAP smear to confirm a diagnosis. Irrespective of symptoms that suggest cervical cancer PAP smear is a must every year specially in women aged over 30 years and smokers. It takes an hour or 2 to get the test done but it helps saving life with early diagnosis of cervical changes. Hope your concern is answered. Thank you.
