Suggest Treatment For Lump At Incision Site Near Navel Area
100plus weight loss tummy tuck vertical and horizontal cuts, split incision at navel and groin....large lump along horizontal incision makes a turn and follows incision up 3inches towards belly button. Is this normal, what is it....will it go away????
Hello and welcome to HCM, Development of a lump along the incision site is suggestive of incisional hernia. Incisional hernia is protrusion of abdominal contents (abdominal in your case) through the incision site. Overweight is a risk factor for incisional hernia. Other risk factors include infection, uncontrolled blood sugar which interferes with healing, low immunity to name a few. Thus, I suggest you to consult you surgeon for clinical assessment and thus management. It the incisonal hernia is large enough, a revision surgery may have to be done. Conservative approach may be helpful in small sized hernia.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
