Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A few months ago I noticed a fleshy lump on the side of my uvula. It did not cause irritated so I didn't pay much attention to it. There's still no pain but it seems to be a little bigger as I can feel it when I swallow. A little concerned. Any ideas or suggestions?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of lump in the uvula which seems to be due to bacterial or viral infection of oral cavity, intake of hot and sharp food and it could be allergic reaction to any ingredient. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to suck on ice pops. Chew few cloves of garlic to help reduce the infection and heal an enlarged uvula. Maintain hygiene and do gargles warm saline rinses. Drink plenty of water. You should consume honey as it has antibacterial properties. Take proper course of antibiotics such as Azithromycin 250 mg along with antiinflammatory medications. Visit oral physician once and get it examined and start treatment accordingly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
