Suggest Treatment For Lump On Shoulder After Injury

My husband fell on the concrete. He landed on his side in a manner to where he landed on his shoulder and hit his head on the concrete and his feet were in the air. He has a knot a little smaller in diameter than a pool ball and said the back of his head down lower was where he feels it. The knot is on the top rounded part back part of his head. Should we worry?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The lump is related to the inflammation after the injury. I suggest using cold compresses for local application. I also suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation. If your husband has headache or vomiting you should go at the emergency room for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
