Suggest Treatment For Lung Cancer In An 86 Year Old
JUST FOUND OUT MY FATHER-IN-LAW HAS LUNG CANCER IN BOTH LUNGS, AND HIS LEFT SHOULDER. HE IS 86 YEARS OLD. SHOULD AN 86 YEAR OLD GO THROUGH CHEMO OR RADIATION OR AT THAT AGE, SHOULD HE JUST LIVE OUT LIFE AND ENJOY THE HEALTHY TIME HE HAS LEFT. I M CONCERNED, ONCE HE STARTS EITHER OF THESE TREATMENTS, THE SIDE EFFECTS WILL KICK IN AND THIS WILL BE THE END OF SOME WHAT BEING HEALTHY AND ENJOYING LIFE.
Hi I a sorry for your father in law as he is aged and as you are talking that it's in both the lungs and already metastasized to the shoulder. I would suggest you to go for palliative care or to look for alternative medicines to improve his quality of life chemotherapy and radiotherapy has got its own side effects Since it has metastasized than there is no scope of surgery so symptomatic care and avoidance of further exposure is the my opinion for him
Regards
