My husband has lymphedema in his lower legs which drain copiously. We have tried bandaging, massage therapy and pnuematic compression, but it has been so painful, he cannot stand it. We've been to wound treatment centers, but only end up with a bigger wound area and infections. Have you any suggestions? My husband is 62, 5'9" and weighs 380 lbs. When he was a volunteer firemen he was injured and he developed a leg infection that damaged his leg. He had worn compression stockings to help the condition. After bumping the back of his leg, the oozing started and has not stopped. We have been trying to deal with problem for almost two years. One doctor suggested an UNA boot but we had to remove it due to the heavy flow of fluid which blistered the healthy skin especially around his ankles. He suffers awful pain and takes tylenol 3 and motrin throughout the day. The wound doctors scraped his leg every two weeks, but the wound grew from the size of my palm to the entire back of his leg. Before this occured, my husband was not on any medication , no high blood pressure, and his blood tests were normal. We are at our wits end and are limited in our financial and insurance. He has been declared disabled because of this condition.
