Suggest Treatment For Major Depressive Disorder In An Elderly Person
Hi, my 76 year old mother has been diagnosed with major depressive disorder, and was prescribed Cymbalta 20 mgs, once daily. She cannot take it due to diarrhea reaction. What other anti-depressant would possibly help her? She has severe rage episodes, anger, anxiety and nervousness. Being around her is a nightmare when she goes into one of her episodes. Please.....I need help.
dear friend. Diarrhoea is a side effect of the drug. there are more alternative antidepressants available, which may suit your mother. also looking at the symptoms of rage etc that you have mentioned i feel there may be a need to add an antipsychotic as well. please discuss her symptoms and behaviour in detail with your psychiatrist. and seek an alternative medication
