As per my clinical experience, there are various management options for a chronic non healing wound. Medical management: - Regular sterile dressing with Nano-crystalline gel ointments or spray - Colloidal applications in selected cases - Culture sensitivity antibiotics - Control of blood sugar - Proteolytic enzymes as serratiopeptidase or others - Supportive multi vitamins and anti oxidants - Avoidance of smoking if involved - Taking care to avoid exposure to marine water, mud, dust
Surgical management: - Skin grafting (artificial graft or self skin from another thigh) - Laser procedures - Hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy - Regular debridement and surgical healing.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
