Suggest Treatment For Memory Loss And Concentration Issues

My husband suffers from PTSD and has now been on Paxil for 34 days..20 mg a day. He is now experiencing problems with memory loss and concentration. He is out of town and cannot see his Dr. for over two weeks...I am concerned with his travel and what he is experiencing...can he stop taking this drug or at least cut it down?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You are right paroxetine may cause memory problems and disorientation. If they are not severe, we don't advise to stop the drug. However if the symptoms are severe, and if you think is likely because of the drugs, then we may think of stopping it. But don't stop it abruptly, you may reduce the dose. Let your doctor know as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
