Hi. My mother was surgery her breast cancer before 3 yars ago. It was II A stadium and not any metastases. Now, she has metastases on vertebrae L3 with L2 and L4. She had 6 radiation therapy. Her onkologist doktor is against surgery, but hirurg say that hi could move all tumor by move vertebrae. I want to ask is the surgery will help her for longer surwivor, or not, and das surgary on metastase may do something worse? Sorry about my not very good english and thanks
Unfortunately it is an advanced disease and cure is not possible at this stage. There is no point in removing the tumor from spine and it will not provide any surgical advantage.
Radiotherapy and chemo therapy are the treatment of choice at this stage. Surgery is required only when there is fracture or weakness secondary to spine metastasis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
