Suggest Treatment For Mild COPD And Persistent Vomiting
My 59 yr old dad was recently prescribed a long acting powder inhaler (I can t remember the name) for a new diagnosis of mild copd. He s been taking the inhaler for about a week and went on a diet. He takes over the counter prilosec everyday, he also has a hiatil hernia . His mother and her mother had/ have chf. 2 days ago he started vomiting continuously, went to the ER , givin lasixs and sent home yesterday. Today vomiting continuously back in ER.
Since he is suffering from a hiatus hernia his persistent vomiting is mostly due to a hiatus hernia or other abdominal causes.
Mild COPD is unlikely to cause persistent vomiting. So better to consult a gastroenterologist and get done ultrasound examination of the abdomen and upper GI (gastrointestinal) scopy.
He should start antiemetic drug like domperidone or ondansetron. Don't worry, he will be alright.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Kaushal Bhavsar, Pulmonologist
