Suggest Treatment For Mild Swelling In The Neck While On Ibuprofen

I developed a small amount of discomfort in my right neck less than a week ago. Now there is tenderness along my right carotid artery along with some mild swelling, mostly at the bifurcation, extending down perhaps 2 or 3 cm., stopping next to the larynx. Some partial relief with ibuprofen. Is this something to worry about or will it resolve spontaneously? I am a pathologist, 54 years old. I don t think it is a carotid body paraganglioma. Maybe I ll just wait a few more days and see.

Hello welcome to HCM...

Here right sided swelling present with pain...

Is it lymph node swelling or gland swelling (might get idea by palpation )

It could be inflammatory swelling of gland or lymph node ..

Investigate with CBC and CRP to get idea...
If CRP high and total count more than antibiotic can be started ...
Continue use of brufen for five days ...

Avoid smoking if habit ....

Drink lots of fluid ....

Posterior pharynx examination and lymph node palpation has to be done ...

Even if after week swelling increasing in size and no improvement than FNAC can be done to look for nature of swelling ...

Take care

Advise : Physician consultation for examination....
