Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I live in Missouri and my allergies are really bad right now and so my doctor prescribed Singulair for me. I have a mitral valve prolapse and I am having a lot of PVC s. Am wondering if Singulair is an antihistamine and could be causing my PVC s to be worse.
Have you done a recent EKG? Singulair is unlikely to cause a increase in the number of VPCs. If there is an underlying mitral valve prolapse then the changes in the chamber dimensions secondary to the valve prolapse can be the cause of increased VPCs. You should get a electrophysiology consultation done at the earliest and start on medications if required.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Meera Rajeev, Anesthesiologist
