Suggest Treatment For Muscle Pain And Tiredness In An Elderly Person

My husband age 77 has been feeling under the weather for nearly a week . It started with muscle pain across his upper back and upper arms and just a feeling of tiredness . That subsided and then he had 3 days of constipation . He took some Dulcolax and that helped. He has no appetite is drinking fluids and is generally not himself, no ambition , just weak and tired , which is not at all like him .

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Sudden weakness, muscle pain and tiredness in the elderly can be a sign of underlying pyrexia through some sort of bacterial or viral infection, dehydration, low hemoglobin as anemia or else.

* He must get physician check-up for pulse, blood pressure, blood sugar with basic lab tests to evaluate general body system functioning.

Till that time, give him plenty of liquids to maintain hydration status.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
