Suggest Treatment For Muscle Pain In The Neck And Shoulder

Hi I have been experiencing muscle pain in my neck, shoulder mainly on left side. I have contributed it to years of working construction. However, for the past several weeks whenever I lay down to sleep I wake up with headaches on the left side of my head going from my neck region into my left eye and is painful. After taking Ibuprofin, asthma medicine and a nasal inhalent the pain goes away although my neck muscles pain never completely goes away. Any clues as to what may be causing this?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
One sided headache radiating to neck and left eye may be a symptom of migraine headache. However, some neck pathologies may give similar symptoms. The neck is a region with many nerves and when any is touched by any neck problem, the effect can be felt to all areas to which the nerve leads and may radiate to the brain and eyes. Pain in neck and shoulder could be caused by many medical conditions some of which are:Muscle strain, cervical osteoarthritis, nerve compression, injury.
The treatment of these conditions is however with pain medications and treatment options depend on the intensity of the pain.Treatment options may include different lines of pain medications, myorelaxants, steroids occasionally, physiotherapy.I will advise you try the following
-Take pain medication like ibuprofen
-A myorelaxant like miorel
-Alternate heat and cold packs
-Gentle home stretching
If all these don't help, you may see your Doctor for alternative management.
Hope this will help you
Best regards
