Suggest Treatment For Muscle Spasms Around Rib Cage

Hello, Yes I am having muscle spasms within the ribcage. It starts on the left side in the back. When I cough, sneeze or move too quickly the muscle supporting my ribs spasms. I just had acdf surgery 6 weeks ago, and called the surgeon to see if this was normal they said if it was in my neck or shoulders it would be related to the surgery, but not where I am having it. I do not have a stomach ache or a fever. Have not had any problems with my stomach. Any ideas? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms can be related to muscle spasms.
I suggest to use a spasmolytic such as Baclofen three times a day.
I also suggest to use magnesium supplements for muscle relaxation.
Warm compresses or a warm shower can also be helpful.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
