Hello,
The treatment options for
nail psoriasis include the following-
He may go for topical corticosteroids(such as clobetasol), intralesional corticosteroids, psoralen plus ultraviolet light A (PUVA), topical
fluorouracil, topical
calcipotriol, topical anthralin, topical tazarotene, topical cyclosporine, vitamin D, or retinoid creams that you rub into your nail and cuticle every dayavulsion therapy, and systemic therapy for severe cases.
Your doctor may call these "topical" drugs. For nail psoriasis, he or she may suggest a corticosteroid.
Your doctor may call these "systemic medications." Some examples are:
Acitretin (Soriatane), Apremilast (Otezla), Cyclosporine (Sandimmune),
Methotrexate.
But all of these drugs are toxic and should only be used under strict supervision of a doctor and in the recommended doses only. Please visit your
dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
