Suggest Treatment For Nausea And Constipation

I ovulated two weeks ago, and also had sex the day before and the day after. I've just started my period, but for the last two weeks I have been experiencing nausea constipation excessive sleepiness and this burning feeling in my entire abdomen. Am I pregnant? Or is something else going on?

Thanks for contacting with your health query

1. This could probably be called as 'post ovulation constipation' believed to be caused by hormone progesterone and about 2% of women often experience slow bowel movement or constipation after ovulation and is also a common symptom of pregnancy too [implantation cramps] and if menstrual like cramps after ovulation is/are severe one might feel nauseated too

2. To confirm whether you are pregnant consult a GYNOB Doctor who will double check with UPT [urine pregnancy test] and an ultrasound to confirm the same, however since the pain is lasting for more than two weeks one should exclude other health conditions that can mimic painful ovulation like: salpingitis, pelvic bacterial infection, endometriosis, cyst in ovaries, fallopian tube congestion, ectopic pregnancy.

3. If after careful examination and necessary investigations it comes out to be pre pregnancy constipation: need not to worry constipation resolves naturally when progesterone level will drop, if it is pregnancy constipation certain lifestyle changes can help you overcome the situation:

- drink more water: to stay hydrated and helping passing of bowel movements smoothly
- exercise regularly: walking for half an hour is enough to reduce constipation
- increase fibre intake which acts as bulk forming laxative and improves colon health
- remain under regular supervision of your attending physician
