Suggest Treatment For Nausea And Metallic Taste In The Mouth

Have recently moved into a new house. Setup my office in a finished attic room. Working there several days and experiencing sickness. Some nausea but very bitter tasting skin and lips. Wife says breath smells metallic. New carpet smells powdery and during the heat of the day seems almost like a bitter toxic gas effect up in the room. Also some itching, headache, etc.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. There are two possibilities in your case. Either the metallic taste in the mouth along with nausea, itching and headache are part of the same problem or there might be two different maladies affecting you at the same time.

Firstly, there is a possibility of having an allergic reaction from the carpet material that you have in the room. To confirm if this is the case, you can start antihistamine such as Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5 days. If all the symptoms that it is an allergic reaction and you need improve with that, we can be sure that you probably need to change the carpet or have no carpet.

However, if the itching resolves and nausea and metallic taste in mouth persist, it might be due to hyperacidity or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). In such case, antacids and Digene syrup can help you along with diet and lifestyle changes. You can also consult a physician or gastroenterologist for the long term relief of the disorder.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
