Suggest Treatment For Nausea, Fever And Vomiting

I started with a cold in my neck on Mon. The pain has been annoying until this afternoon when it spread from the mid left neck area horizontally across the top of the neck and across the bottom base of the skull, but nor in the skull. The plain feels muscle origin. The pain ranges from a steady 3 to a 7 when moving the head more so up and down, not so much left and right. Pain happens when trying to prop up the head with a pillow or neck pillow, unable to lie still. No nausea, fever, vomiting, headache. Message, heat and cold have little effect in mitigating the pain. I just want to make sure it isn t meningitis.

Hello,

By what you explain, it is very likely that the pain is muscular in nature. Neck pain that is worse on moving with no headache and no nausea or vomiting, as you explain, no fever, or other symptoms does not seem to be due to meningitis.

I would advise you to take some ibuprofen and paracetamol to help with the pain and also continue with hot compresses locally. I would avoid massage as sometimes if it is harsh it might hurt the muscles more and make the pain worse. If you notice no improvement of the pain in a couple of days or you notice any worsening you will need to see your doctor.
