Suggest Treatment For Neck Pain And Painful Swallowing After Complete Disc Replacement
i have had 2 neck surgeries already I had a complete disc replacement at C5-6 and then fused at C5-6 ..........over the weekend I was choked from behind he picked me up off the ground and I was knocked completely out......my neck hurts really bad in the front and back the front feels like it was crushed during the choking but the back is just in a lot of pain it is hard to swallow just really painful I also have a headache my whole head hurts and it hurts real bad!
You had been choked at neck which is a significant impact that can cause compression of esophagus and trachea. Due to that compression, pain arises. You can take NSAIDs like ibuprofen or Naproxen to be taken twice daily for 3 days. Pain will be there up to at least a week. You need to have a neck X-ray anteroposterior view.
If you have gastric irritation, better take tab. Pantop before food. If you have bleeding problems or heart failure, NSAIDs are not recommended instead you can use opioids like hydrocodone, oxycodone and Tramadol. If your pain doesn't subside, please do consult a physician.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
