Regarding your concern, you should know that the main treatment in such cases are anti-epilepsy drugs like carbamazepine or gabapentine. They usually help reduce the pain severity. Anyway a cervical spine MRI study and a nerve conduction study are necessary to examine for possible nerve compression (a bulging intervertebral disk, etc.) and discuss about surgery as a possible treatment option.
