Suggest Treatment For Neurogenic Bladder Dysfunction
Hi, any recommendations for a urologist that is familiar with issues related to a neurogenic bladder? I live in Surrey and have seen Dr Fenster in the past (many years ago now) but wonder if any others that might specialize and be more familiar with new types of treatment related to bladder function for those with spinal cord injuries. I am a 59 yo male and have had 3 surgeries on my bladder and now have scar tissue which affects emptying which has progressively gotten worse over the years. This scar tissue also affects my ability to catheterize without causing discomfort. My residual bladder volume after voiding has gotten very high and probably varies between 800-1200 mls. Any urologist recommendations?
I am sorry you are experiencing bladder dysfunction symptoms. I know how distressing this could be. However, considering your age, I think much is can be done to improve your symptoms. There are no specific recommendations as you await your results. However, I strongly suggest you drink much fluids. Depending on the KUB results from your urologist, a management plan based on the intensity of symptoms and probable causes of this condition can be drawn up then.
Antibiotics might not be very necessary at this point in time, especially as you could get results soon. Treatment really depends on the cause. I know its really difficult to wait as such. But I am afraid you will just have to be patient as the treatment plan depends on the cause as shall be shown by your test results.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
