Suggest Treatment For Numbness And Swelling In Leg After Injury

Hello....a 80lb closet door fell on the back of my leg,calf area. I went to the ER....diagnosed with mild hematoma. After 5 days...it it still numb and swollen beyong belief. I am able to walk on it however. I fell asleep with ice...simply because i cant feel it. Do i have nerve damage?

Hi,

If you do not have problem with walking, need not worry about nerve damage now. A hematoma and its associated discomfort may take 2-3 weeks to resolve. Take acetaminophen if it hurts. You need to revisit doctor only if the swelling progressively increases, the area becomes red / tender / hot to touch or you develops fever, as these features suggests secondary infection needing antibiotics and sometimes drainage.
