Suggest Treatment For Numbness In Legs, Feet And Buttocks Post A Spider Bite
My 20 year old daughter was bitten by a black widow spider (we are pretty certain) and she is experiencing numbness in her bottom, legs and feet. I know this affects the nervous system. She did go to an urgent care and they prescribed a steroid cream, but it s been several days and still suffering from the numbness. Is this something that just has to run its course and eventually get out of her system or does she need to visit a doctor again? Thank you.
The venom from a black widow spider is poisonous. Symptoms of a reaction to the venom start about 30 minutes after the bite.
Symptoms are usually mild and stop within a few days, but severe symptoms that last several days are possible.
I suggest drinking plenty of water. Take antihistaminic like loratadine, apply ice pack in the area affected. If you don't feel better make another examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
