Suggest Treatment For Numbness In The Legs After A Triple By-pass Surgery

My daughter-in-law had triple by-pass surgery in Dec. 2015. The doctor who did this surgery used veins instead of arteries. In February she had to have more surgery, this time an artery was implanted. The medication is making her legs so numb she is afraid to drive and is using a walker to get around. He job is aan hour s drive each way and so far they have allowed her to continue working from home, but who knows how long they will agree to this. Any suggestions? Would vitamin B-12 help?

Hi.

Noted the history related about your daughter in law having had triple bypass surgery of heart firstly using veins and then using artery, she has numbness of legs and will need to drive for an hour to go for the job, although she is allowed now to work from home.
My thoughts:
Yes, Vitamin B 12 should be given along with other multivitamins and mineral, trace elements as supplements.
Her problem needs to be clinically evaluated well to find the cause which can be one of the following:
Whether the nerves are affected.
Whether the arterial supply is reduced.
Whether there is venous congestion due to varicose veins and so on.
Hence she needs the following:
Color doppler studies for arterial as well as venous flows.
Nerve conduction studies.
Once these are done to find the cause she can have an opinion of a Specialist to have further clinical evaluation, examination,, relevant investigations and have proper management as this is related to her life and job too.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
