Suggest Treatment For Numbness In Tongue After Surgery For Cancer
My 64-year-old mother-in-law had surgery a week ago for breast cancer. since that time the tip of her tongue and underlying tissue has been numb. there is some sensation of something being there that she can t get off but other than that it is basically numb. the anesthesiologist says to wait a few more days and see if the feeling will return but we are tired of waiting. any idea what may have caused this? could it have been the breathing tube used during surgery and if so will the feeling eventually come back? thanks. I suggest you to wait for sometime. It can be temporary damage to the nerve supplying the tongue. It will be regenerated within few weeks. It sometimes happens in these type of major surgeries. If you want you can take neurobion tablet for 2 weeks.
