Suggest Treatment For Occasional Leg Cramps And Sinusitis

Daughter, 19, 230lbs, Asperger s, asthma, leg cramps occasionally. Symptoms today: Approx. 10 days sick with virus...sinusitis, excessive mucus. Tonight her whole left side went numb, including her face. She says that if she tries to relax her left arm, it starts having spasms (but I m not seeing that). Has just informed me that it seems to be going away, but I thought I d inquire about her symptoms, in case they come back (numbness lasted approx. 40 min.). She does NOT get enough exercise, and struggles with bad eating habits. When she gets in to see her brand new doctor, I have a feeling they will find her A1c is closer to becoming diabetic. One doctor said she was pre-diabetic. Her mother (me), grandmother and great-grandmother all have/had diabetes type 2. Very hard to get her to comply with better eating habits and exercise, but I know there will be consequences down the road...I just hope not tonight! Taking one day at a time- it s all I can do! Thank you for whatever advice you have to offer!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Leg cramps are caused by alcohol abuse, addictions, diabetes, thyroid issues, Addison's disease. You can take Acetaminophen (Tylenol), Naproxen, one sos when required. Do stretch exercises & keep your feet elevated on a pillow while on bed or stool when you are seated.

Sinusitis needs to be detected first, get examined & get X-Ray PNS done, in the meantime take Doxycycline, Antihistamines, decongestants & steam inhalation for relieving. Switch on to healthy lifestyle & healthy eating habits to avoid worsening of the symptoms. Go one day at a time, be careful of her diet & reduce calories.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
