Suggest Treatment For Occassional Premature Ventricular Contractions
At age 65 I have begun experiencing occassional PVCs. I am generally fit and in good health and reasonably ;physically active. My PVCs are always linked to light exercise. I usually get only one or two discernible missed beats and then it settles for the rest of my swim, bike ride or whatever. Generally my heart rate hasn t even had a chance to elevate much before I get these symptoms. Should I be booking any diagnostic tests or the like? Thanks
You are concerned about PVC. These are normal and almost everyone has them There are not pathological and do not require treatment. I recommend you continue to exercise regularly. You can help reduce the PVC by reducing caffeine and alcohol. There are some medications that can help like beta blockers but they have serious side effects and I would not recommend them.
