Suggest Treatment For Occult Blood In An Infant
Hi, my baby boy is 7 months old and have been passing stool for 5/6 times stool from last 8 days. He had already completed the Taxim o course for 5 days . There was slight improvement in the condition during the taxim o course but baby has again passing stool 5/6 times per day on course completion. Sometimes the stool is wet and watery but normally it is semi solid and mixture of yellow and green colour. Now our Doctor has prescribed 2 ml of Zinconia syrup for 15 days after stool test has shown positive for occult blood. Please suggest/share your view

As per my clinical experience, the occult blood in infant with frequency of stool indicates possible issue with intestine infection with bacteria or virus; lactose intolerance or maladaptation to newly changed formula feed. Addition of Metronidazole with current therapy, probiotics with lacto bacillus and zinc syrup will give excellent results. Simultaneous work up is mandatory to look into the diet chart of the child which many times require major modifications.
