Suggest Treatment For Open Ulcers On The Tongue And Jaw
my husband had a root canal today, and when the numbing wore off he has an open ulcer on his tongue and another on the inside of his jaw from where the novacaine or whatever spilled over from the needle I guess. what can we put on it? he is a diabetic and I feel if we ignore it it could get infected easily.
As per your query your husband has tow open wounds one on tongue and one inside the jaw . The symptoms you mention occur probably due to minor injury with dental instrument or needle during root canal procedure . As you also mention that your husband is diabetic , it means he is very susceptible for infection . More over open wound in oral cavity always susceptible for infection . I would suggest you to consult your dentist again discuss the whole secnerio with hime . Doctor may prescribe you antibiotics ( amoxicillin) for 4-5 days . For now do hydrogen peroxide rinses mix with equal amount of water once a day and betadine rinses twice a day . Also maintain proper oral hygiene .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
