Hello Doctor,My mother is suffering from osteoarthritis. First it was in left knee. Medicines were going on but it just kept the pain down. Now since last 6 months the right knee is also affected. There is too much pain if she tries to walk.Legs are bit crooked. Please suggest something stop its progression n relieved pain. I have the latest xrays also. Recently saw Dr. R.K singh s article in dainik jagran where he mentioned some processes to cure osteoarthritis till third stage. None of the doctors mentioned about that here in Patna.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Osteoarthritis is an old age problem, wherein there is wear and tear of meniscal cartilages of knee. No doubt that your mother is suffering form a painful crippling disorder. She can take Glucosamine tablets (provided she is not diabetic or diabetes is under strict control) along with analgesics whichever she is comfortable. She need to undergo Physiotherapy training for pain free movements of the joint. If the pain is severe or unbearable, she needs approach Orthopedician to undergo arthroscopic surgery or knee replacement. Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
