Suggest Treatment For Osteoarthritis

I recently was told by my Dr that I have Osteroarthritis and my question is: If I get a steroid injection, i wont feel pain anymore but will i make more damage to my knee if I have normal activities? nothing hard of course just biking, walking and some hiking?

you are suffering from disease which all baby boomers are suffering.
osteoarthritis is disease where people try to avoid surgery as much as possible.
injecting steroids, viscosupplements , alternative medicines are booming due to this. regarding steroids yes they will give you pain relief in advance arthritic changes but temporary relief. YOU will again have pain and in meantime you will damage your knee further. HIKING, BIKING are sternous activities for knee .
UNBEARABLE PAIN GO FOR SURGERY AND LIMIT YOUR ACTIVITIES.

Osteoarthritis knee needs some mild exercising without overstrain,so must take intermittent rest for 10 minutes after every hour of walk or hike.cortisone injections are for reducing pain and inflammation only and effective for few days.In relief after injection,it's advisable to have mild walks as before without overstrain, this wouldn't erode the previous damage..But if you strain slot believing no pain, chance does arise for silent damage.be cautious that's all, with adequate rest to knee in between exercises
