Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am currently being treated for an outer ear infection with Cipro HC and still have itchiness in my designated left ear. Before I first started treating my ear with this solution I had used cotton balls and hydrogen peroxide as my own attempted treatment to stop itchiness in my ears. I left them in my ears for several minutes and they were sizzling. Someone told me that I could have stripped my ears of good, protective bacteria. I have swimmer s ear from a spa pool. I spilled my bottle of Cipro HC and possibly contaminated the tiny glass dropper. Due to the heavy cost of the Cipro, I continued to use it for the full week and just finished my last and final dosage for the prescribed week. Lately I ve been feeling an itching shortly after I ve applied the solution into my ear. Is that possibly a sign that I am contaminating my ear each time that I apply the ear solution or could it possibly be an allergic reaction to the droplets. It subsides within a minute or so. Do you have any ideas on this?
