i had a hysterectomy on October 13 of this year had to have a ct scan on the 17th of October and another one yesterday. with my hysterectomy i had my uterus and tubes out and ruptured my cyst. now the cyst is back and was on the 17th and as went from 26mm to 56mm and i am still in a lot of pain, any ideas on what to say to my doctor in order to get him to help me. and my doctor seems not to want to listen to me
An ovarian cyst is quite painful and it can be managed with the help of medicines and surgery both, whichever is best for a patient and is decided by the treating doctor.
As you said you had hysterectomy previously and the complaint of painful ovarian cyst has increased with increase in the size of the cyst.
Whenever patients come to me with such complaints, I suggest them that this is always best managed by a gynaecologist.
In your case, if the pain is unbearable then ER is the place you should go currently so that pain can be managed efficiently.
If you feel that your doctor is not concerned about it as per your expectations then you always can consult another gynaecologist of your choice for the same with all history and symptoms, and follow her advice on further treatment. So that your illness can be best managed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
