Suggest Treatment For Pain And Discomfort In Chest

For two day now, I have had pain, discomfort on the left side of my rib cage; starts right under my bra line and is about 8 inches wide, and doesn t really go into my back. Heat helps, either from a pain patch, or a heated microwave pad. I ve had 4 Tramdol today, two Bayer Back & Body, and two Gabapentin. For several hours now, there s been no relief. Any idea what it might be.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms could be related to heart and could be myocardial infarction. This could be an emergency. I would suggest you to immediately visit hospital to take an ECG, cardiac enzymes like troponins and rule out any cardiac ischemia.

Ischemia refers to reduction in blood flow which can present as chest pain. Severe pain not reducing with opioids or Gaba analogues should be taken seriously. Abdominal ultrasound / KUB ultrasound may be taken to rule out abdominal causes and renal stones.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
