General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your chest pain should be investigated. An ECG examination should be done initially to rule out any cardiac cause of it. Chest auscultation will be helpful to find any signs of lung problems. If all these are clear and there is no pain associated with palpation then it can be most likely due to gastritis and gastro esophageal reflux ( GERD ). In such case if you were my patient I would suggest taking proton pump inhibitors like esomeprazole ( Nexium ) and motility enhancers like domperidone for 4 weeks. If there is no improvement then a consultation with Gastroenterologist and fibrogastroduodenoscopy will be needed. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
