Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling Above Knee
I think I twisted my knee over a year ago. It gives me trouble off and on. If I am on it a lot, (working) it hurts a lot, and if way too much use with it, its very painful, and swells in front kinda above the knee, and I do not have much mobility with it most days. Yes I will see a doctor, but any idea what I can do for natural supplements to help?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Twisting knee can give injury to anterior cruciate ligament or meniscal tear or both. A physical examination by an orthopedician will give signs of it and a MRI will be needed to confirm it. You can do ice pack application , wearing knee braces and have NSAIDs in case of pain and inflammation. If it is mild injury then it will heal by conservative measures. But you should modify your activity for this. Physiotherapy and quadriceps strengthening exercises with be helpful also. But if there is severe injury then diagnostic arthroscopy and correction is advised. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
