Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling After Tooth Extraction

About 5 weeks ago I had my number 18 tooth extracted by an oral surgeon. About 2 and a half weeks ago I was eating lunch and I heard and felt an explosion in my mouth. Its extremely swollen, painful and not getting any better with time. I'm on antibiotics as well as pain meds. Please help!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain if there is pain and swelling after 5 weeks then there is a possibility that you have problem related with any other tooth as by now the 18 extraction socket must have completely healed..

There is a possibility that you have fractured any decayed tooth or even a healthy tooth by chewing something very hard..

Consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and along with medication the tooth has to be ruled out for the exact problem and has to be treated accordingly..

In case if tooth is fractured then generally it is not possible to save it and needs removal..
But in case if it is in a position to be saved then root canal treatment followed by capping is done..

As of now continue taking medication and also do cool compresses over the swelling..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
