Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In Arm After An Injury
My husband fell and braced himself with his hand and it became very inflamed, swollen, and painfull / He is on Plavix, and diabetic meds, heart meds. He had it braced and bandaged and will be seeing a bone Dr. My concern is is fingers are all blue and reddish bruising going up his arm and there was quite a lot of swelling / His shoulder and arm are becoming painful now / Being his age and being on quite a few meds and his health problems ,I m wondering about his chances for healing ?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query . Fracture can be possible as he is having more swelling and pain. It is better to consult an orthopedician and have a X ray to rule out fracture. If fracture is there then early reduction should be done preferably osteosynthesis which avoid long term immobilisation and complications as he is in high risk group. If his diabetes is well controlled then there won't be any problem for healing. Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further queries. Thanks
