Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In The Ear

Hi, my partner was walking past a country like park at night yesterday and he had a bat fly directly into his ear. There s no scratch or bit marks or any redness or swelling. I m worried he might have been bitten. Bare in mind were in the UK so bats are the only rabid animals here. What should we do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your partner symptoms seem to be related to an allergic reaction. I suggest using antihistamines such as Cetirizine daily. I also recommend using Calamine lotion for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
