Hi,

Soft tissue healing takes time, sometimes 6 to 8 weeks. Some general suggestions for treating pain and swelling on the calves after a knee injury.
* Rest and elevation: Resting the affected leg and elevating it above the level of your heart can help reduce swelling. This promotes blood flow and lymphatic drainage away from the injured area.
* Ice therapy: Applying ice packs wrapped in a cloth or using cold therapy devices on the affected area for 15-20 minutes at a time, several times a day, can help reduce swelling and numb pain. Be sure to place a cloth between the ice pack and your skin to prevent ice burn.
* Compression: Wearing a compression bandage or using compression stockings can help reduce swelling by applying gentle pressure to the affected area. Make sure the compression is not too tight, as it can impede blood circulation.
* Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): Over-the-counter NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen or naproxen, can help reduce pain and inflammation. However, consult with your healthcare professional before taking any medication, as they can provide appropriate dosage instructions and consider any contraindications or interactions.
* Physical therapy: Depending on the severity and nature of your knee injury, your healthcare professional may recommend physical therapy exercises to strengthen the muscles around the knee, improve mobility, and reduce pain and swelling.
* Protect and stabilize the knee: Using a brace, splint, or crutches, if advised by your healthcare professional, can help protect the knee from further injury and provide support during the healing process.

Follow up with a orthopedist if the pain and swelling persist or worsen.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
