Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling On The Foot
I am a 64 year old female. I was diagnosed with flexor hallucis longus tendon. Treatment consisted of first wearing a short boot and a soft cast. That did not help with the pain so I was put in a long boot to be worn 23 hours daily for two weeks. When that did not eleviate the pain I was injected with steroid injection plus wearing the boot for two mor weeks. Though the swelling and pain have gotten better, I am experiencing burning sensation in my shin area. I would appreciatee it if you could tell me why I am experiencing the burning sensation. Thank you.
Burning pain/sensations usually imply that there is nerve related injury which may be temporary or permanent. Nerve injury can occur with the initial issue that cause the damage to the tendon or related to abnormal positioning of the foot that would have occurred to the the pain or secondary to the boot/cast.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
