Suggest Treatment For Pain, Burning Sensation And Discomfort In Chest
I have acidity, gastric problem since long time ago, very rarely I was talking medicine. Two months back I have been relocated & staying in PG. Unfortunately here I need to eat spicy, oily & fried foods which I don t like & no hot drinking water available. It increased gastric problem in me & last night I was feeling pain, burning sensation & discomfort in my chest. So please suggest medicine or I can start taking rantec 150 mg.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nureini's Response
Spicy food, does increase stomach acidity, so firstly I would suggest you to try to reduce spicy food specially at night before going to sleep. Also reduce soda drinks, acidic fruits and juices such as orange, lemon etc.
Milk helps a lot in relieving symptoms of GERD. Try to sleep with a pillow with your head tilt up from abdomen as that will avoid the stomach acid to reach to esophagus.
For medications, Rantec is good but not the best and since your symptoms are stronger than before i suggest you take Omeprazole 20mg twice daily 30 minutes before eating food, you can also buy an over the country Antacid such as Gaviscon and take it whenever you feel chest discomfort.
Hope this helped.
Wish you all the best.
