Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I KNOW I HAVE FLAT FEET ,HAD THEM ALL MY LIFE. JUST ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO MY FEET AND ANKLES HURT REALLY BAD ,I AM 62 AND A WORK A HOLIC, I WEAR GOOD ARCH WORK SHOES. I DO HAVE ARTHRITIS.ASPIRIN DOES NOTHING, AND IT REALLY EFFECTS MY WORK. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF I AM WALKING OR AT MY DESK THEY HURT ALL THE TIME. RECOMMENDATION ?
The pain in ankles and feet is due to changes in the anatomical position of the bones of the ankle and feet. Since it is a flat foot, it is appreciable that you been using the arch shoes. But as you have flat foot the changes in the joint position will lead to pains as a result of the soft tissue compression.
I will advise you to do hot water fermentation, then put marbles in the water and try lifting them with toes, also doing reverse walking. If needed can undergo physiotherapy treatment like TENS therapy to reduce the pain. Also, balance board training will help.
In my clinical practice of over 12 years, most flat foot cases have responded well with ankle rehabilitation which includes a part of the treatment advised above.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
