Suggest Treatment For Pain In Arm And Shoulder Due To Arthritis
hello, I have had soreness in my arm, tingling in my fingers and severe pain in the back of my shoulder. I have been to neurologist and no nerve damage, but my MRI shows bone spurs, arthritis and degenerative tissue in my neck. I go to the pain clinic soon and would like to know my best options for treatment. I am in good shape, exercise and weigh 110 at 5 2 . I have been to physical therapy and they said I need to go to the pain clinic and have a cortisone injection. Should I get another opinion?
I believe that you are having cervical spondylitis and because of that there is nerve compression and you are feeling numbness and tingling. I would suggest you to wait before cortisone injection if pain is not tolerable, If pain is not much then you can go for physiotherapy in the form of cervical traction and neck muscle strengthening exercises. I would also forbid you to not do too much over head weight lifting or use of very high pillow. As this can increase nerve pain. Cortisone shot will give temporary relief but it is not definitive cure and it needs to be done precisely. Soft collar is also useful for pain if you are going for bike riding or doing any jerky activity.
