Suggest Treatment For Pain In Coccyx Due To Coccygeal Curvature
My 12 year old daughter has been complaining that her tailbone hurts especially when she sits for a long period of time. Took her to see a spine doctor today and was told her the end of her tailbone is curved in more than it should be and may be hitting another bone when she sits causing the pain. This was seen on an x-ray. Doctor ordered an MRI as well. Haven t gotten the MRI yet. Spine doctor said of it is hitting he was thinking an injection would help with the pain and that it would hopefully straighten out as she grows. Her spine looked great. Would an injection be something to do for a 12 year girl? What could be possible side effects? Thank you.
Based on the history you have shared, he may be referiyto steroid injection in the joint around spine at lowe end to decrease inflammation which is troubling her. Meanwhile MRI should be done to diagnose the exact cause.
OTC analgesic like acetaminophen may be helpful meanwhile. Sitting on an inflamed rubber tube with hollow centre should be followed instead of sitting on flat surfaces.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin
