Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have pain in my little finger at the joint, I was sorting my garage and kinda jammed my little finger. Now its been almost a week and my ring finger is now aching. I took 2 advil earlier, but not much relief, just took 3 advil now and am placed heat on my wrist. Is heat right ? And is there an OTC that helps ? Thank you ! Terri Newman YYYY@YYYY
As you had got your finger jammed, the pain may be due to tendon inflammation, joint inflammation with redness and swelling, any fracture of metaphalanx or phalanx bones of little finger or there might be an injury of the ring finger too along with little finger which you might haven't noticed initially.
As you have taken Advil for pain relief in vain, it's time you get tested clinically by an orthopedic doctor. You require clinical examination in person and an x ray of both the fingers to rule out fracture. Please do consult an orthopedic specialist for further evaluation. Any OTC medication will be pain medication only that you have tried already.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
